Slipper Camp – Times of My Life

unnamed

unnamed (1)

My next Slipper Camp starts June 8th.
The topic: TIMES OF MY LIFE

In this online writing Slipper Camp, we will be writing about times we’ve loved, lost and longed for. Minutes light and dark and times that are/were just plain ordinary. We will be writing about “’loving every minute of our lives” and about times when we couldn’t do that. Minutes we spent in a tropical paradise with an open book and our morning coffee. Minutes we spent waiting for someone who never came.

You will be prompted to write about it all.

Natalie Goldberg wrote: “Our lives are both ordinary and mythical. We live and die, age beautifully or full of wrinkles. We wake in the morning, buy yellow cheese and hope we have the money to pay for it. At the same time, we have these magnificent hearts that pump through all sorrow and all winters we are alive on this earth. We are important and our details are worthy to be recorded.”

Come write with us. You are important and your details are worthy to be recorded.

SLIPPER CAMP TIMES OF MY LIFE:
It will be the same format: 10 writers will receive 3 illustrated prompts about TIMES OF MY LIFE every OTHER morning for 20 days along with daily writing tips and coaching suggestions.

Tuition: PM me for Cost
Limit: 10 writers
Starts: June 8th

Lasts: 20 days (10 days of writing)

Please let me know if you’re interested. Payment secures your spot.

Slipper Camp

Maggie Doyne & BlinkNow Foundation

2020-04-29 09_23_34-Microsoft Edge

Last night I realized I wanted this Slipper Camp to raise $ for an extraordinary woman’s mission. An extraordinary Mother. Maggie Doyne. She started BlinkNow – and Kopila Valley school – in 2006 in Nepal when she was 19 years old… with her babysitting money! Since then Maggie’s changed the lives of countless women and children through a school, a women’s center, a safe house, and a children’s home. Right now she’s quarantined in Surkhet with 54 of her kids. Slipper Camp Mothers and Daughters will be a fundraiser for them. A portion of every tuition will go straight to BlinkNow.
Here’s Maggie in a piece from CNN. Once you’ve seen it you’ll know why she and her mission are the perfect choice for us.

Slipper Camp: Mothers and Daughters

18620919_10154365723495957_6723926101871604873_o

Due to popular demand, Slipper Camp – Mothers and Daughters – is back. It starts Mother’s Day (May 10th) and ends on May 28th! Many mothers and daughters have taken this Slipper Camp together and loved it.

I was inspired to create this Slipper Camp when I studied this photo of my mother and me. At three months old I’m already trying to crawl out of her arms. Eager to see the world. Unwilling to be contained. My mother smiles beatifically, unaware of the restless soul in her arms…

We’ll be writing about ourselves, our mothers and/or mother figures, our daughters-biological or chosen – nieces, goddaughters, stepdaughters or any young woman we mentor. We’ll be exploring the relationship between women of different generations.

As always, you can stay home and write in your PJs and slippers. As always, if you enroll you will receive 3 prompts a day (every other day) for 20 days. As always, you will write 1,000 words on a prompt of your choosing and send it to me. Email me for details at lspravina21@gmail.com.

Only open to the first ten writers who sign up.

Slipper Camp: Light in the Dark

“Better to light one candle than to curse the darkness.”

Those are the words on the Christopher Award I won for creating a movie about hunger in America. They are truer today than ever before.

My next online writing Slipper Camp – Light in the Dark – will inspire you to write about hope, love, and kindness in the world around us.

Every word you write will raise money for ADL a leading anti-hate organization.

I hope you will be one of the 10 writers who will receive illustrated prompts about Light in the Dark every other morning for 20 days, along with coaching suggestions. You will be writing 1,000 words every OTHER DAY and sending them to me by midnight.

Slipper Camp: Home

21317970_10154667537830957_958661983034598423_n

I’d like to invite you to my next available Slipper Camp.

The topic: Home.

Home is a breathtakingly universal need. After her great adventure, Dorothy realized, “There’s no place like home.” Robert Frost wrote, “Home is the place where, when you have to go there, they have to take you in.” Home might be where the heart is. It might be a person, a pet, a place… you name it. I’ve often felt hiraeth: a longing for a home that never was.

I hope you will be 1 of 10 writers who will receive 3 illustrated prompts about HOME every OTHER morning for 20 days along with daily writing tips and coaching suggestions. You will be writing 1,000 words (2 pages) on 1 of the 3 daily prompts and sending it to me by midnight every OTHER day. I will read them each day and we will talk about your writing at the end of Slipper Camp.

PM me for cost of tuition.
Limit: 10 writers
Starts: November 13th ends December 1st

Slipper Camp: Love in the Time of Intolerance

69693672_10156256971905957_5113971418513539072_o

Four spaces left!!

My next online writing Slipper Camp – Love in the Time of Intolerance – will hopefully inspire you to write about love and the audacity of hope. “Hope is a gift you don’t have to surrender,” wrote Rebecca Solnit, “a power you don’t have to throw away.”

Like the woman in the image above, you will be fighting for love and for hope, and your words will be your weapon. Every word you write will raise money for ACLU, RAISES and IRC, organizations that are fighting the horrific injustices at the Southern border.

I hope you will be one of the 10 writers who will receive illustrated prompts about “Love in the Time of Intolerance” every other morning for 20 days, along with coaching suggestions. You will be writing 1,000 words every OTHER DAY and sending them to me by midnight.
